Day 54 Amazon


Amazon is one of the companies who are seeing a surge in demand for their home delivery services.


In the past there has been a lot of negative publicity about Amazon but now the tech giant is making sure they are taking excellent care of their customers and employees.


The tech giant announced that they want to hire 100.000 new workers to meet the demand. Amazon will increase the hourly wage and is also ensuring the safety of its employees, for example by providing face masks and conducting temperature checks.


On April 30th Amazon announced that in the first quarter their net sales increased by 26 % to 75 billion (compared to Q1 2019). They added that they are expecting to spend the entirely operating income of 4 billion USD to fight the pandemic. They are having enormous corona-related costs and it is likely that the group will post a quarterly loss.
