Day 85 The Dutch Goose

The iconic Dutch Goose in Menlo Park is the best place to satisfy your burger and beer cravings. Since 1966 the Dutch Goose has hosted Senior Pub nights, student reunions, and even wedding receptions.

On March 14, the day after San Mateo County imposed severe health restrictions, Dutch Goose owner Greg Stern decided to start offering curb side pickup. Less than a week later, we were disappointed to learn that he decided to stop offering takeout because sales were minimal. Greg stated that he prioritized the safety of his customers and employees and that he would continue to pay salaries.

Starting June 6, restaurants in San Mateo may welcome again customers for sit-down service, as long as it is outside. No more than six people may sit at a table, and tables must be at least six feet apart from one another.

The Dutch Goose only has a small outdoor space, and this is where they show true entrepreneurship. The very same day the order was announced, they decided to turn a parking lot into an outside dining space.

The terrace was not finished yet on the day we left for Belgium. We cannot wait to return to our favorite burger place when we get back in the Bay area in August!
