Lessons from Startup Grind, Menlo Park

One of the privileges of living in Silicon Valley is the ability to hear firsthand stories from top founders: their struggles, breakthroughs, and the mindset that fuels their success. At the Startup Grind Event in Canopy, Menlo Park, I had the chance to attend a fireside chat between two remarkable founders, Jeff Seibert from Digits and Travis Hedge from Vouch Insurance, who shared their journeys from starting up to scaling.

The key takeaways?

🔹 Start with a real pain point and talk with your customers to understand

🔹 Keep refining your ideal customer profile. Who you serve at the beginning may not be the same as you scale.

🔹 Values matter. Growth isn’t just about revenue, it’s about who you become as a company.

🔹 Tenacity, curiosity, and a growth mindset fuel success. The most successful entrepreneurs embrace constant learning and remain relentlessly curious.

🔹 Scale with your customers. Growth isn’t just about reaching new markets, it’s about growing alongside your customers.

If you’re building something today, take a step back and ask yourself: Are you solving a deep enough problem? Are you growing with your customers? Are you staying curious and open to new possibilities?

Thanks, James Gee and Start Up Grind, for this inspiring event!
